August 11, 2015 — We are looking for someone to direct a free after-school program for low-income kids who live in the Chesterbrook Gardens public housing development in Waltham. It is located off Lexington Street in Waltham, fairly close to the Lexington line.
The job pays $25 per hour and runs for ten weeks in the fall and ten weeks in the spring on Monday – Friday, about 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. During these weeks, Bentley University service-learning students are also there staffing the Center, so the job involves working cooperatively with them and helping to supervise them. When Bentley is not in session but the kids are still in school (about the beginning of December until about the beginning of February and again from the beginning of May until mid-June) the Center is open only for homework, computer use and quiet time, Mon – Thurs, from about 3 to 5 PM — we have the director and a paid assistant run the Center at those times.
This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to work with at-risk children and help them succeed.
